Inside Filecoin Wallet

A clearer way to use FIL
A practical guide to receiving, reviewing and following a FIL transfer. Keep the account, the network and the recipient in view.
Use the receiving address for the account you intend to fund. Confirm that the sender is using the Filecoin network, and share only your public address.
Receiving funds never requires sharing your recovery phrase.
Choose the sending account, enter the recipient’s address and specify the amount in FIL. Compare the complete address with the one provided by the recipient.
Check the address again after pasting it.
Read the destination, amount and network fee together. A signature authorizes the transaction, so take time to understand what you are approving.
If a detail is unexpected, stop and review it.
After submitting a transaction, check its status and keep its transaction reference. Submission and confirmation are different stages; verify the result before sending again.
A transaction reference helps identify the exact transfer.
A public address tells someone where to send FIL. A transaction reference identifies a transfer.
It can grant access to your accounts. Keep it offline, never paste it into a website and never send it to support.

Understand the essentials
The wallet, the token and the storage network are connected. Each serves a different purpose.
THE APPLICATION
An account overview and a clear place to review transfers. Filecoin Wallet brings the recipient, amount and network fee into one focused desktop experience.
Your place to review account activity and transaction details.
THE TOKEN
FIL is the native token of Filecoin. It supports the network’s economy, including storage payments and rewards for providers. The FIL/USDT market chart shows its price against USDT.
A market price is separate from your account balance.
THE NETWORK
Filecoin connects storage clients and independent providers. Services in its ecosystem build tools for storing, retrieving and verifying data, as well as programmable applications.
Storing files uses storage services, rather than a wallet balance.
The network behind FIL
A global storage network.
An ecosystem with real scale.

The Filecoin ecosystem
Filecoin connects clients with independent storage providers. Files stay offchain; the blockchain records commitments and proofs that make their storage verifiable.
Filecoin’s native token supports storage payments and rewards the providers contributing resources to the network.
A client arranges storage with a provider for an agreed period. The files are stored offchain.
Cryptographic proofs demonstrate that providers have committed storage and continue holding the data over time.
Services built around the network handle uploads, retrieval and access controls for different needs.
Storage, applications and tools — explained here.
Programmable services
Applications need more than a place to keep files. Onchain Cloud combines storage, retrieval and payments so developers can connect data services to programmable agreements.
an application can coordinate how its data is stored, accessed and paid for.
Object storage
Fil One offers object storage through an S3-compatible interface. Teams can use familiar storage tools to manage large datasets, backups and data-intensive workloads.
a team can connect an existing S3 workflow to a different storage service.
File storage
Lighthouse provides tools to upload, access and share files using IPFS, with Filecoin storage options. Encryption and access controls help applications decide who can read protected content.
an application can publish public files while restricting access to private documents.
Network explorer
Beryx is an explorer for Filecoin. Explorers make blockchain activity readable, helping people inspect onchain records and developers understand interactions with the network.
use an explorer to inspect an onchain transaction record.

Real-world impact / Starling Lab
Starling Lab uses IPFS and Filecoin as part of its work to preserve digital records and make their authenticity verifiable.
Its approach follows three stages: capture a record with information about its origin, preserve it using distributed storage, and verify the evidence attached to it. This supports work with historical archives and journalism, where provenance matters as much as keeping a file available.
These services belong to the Filecoin network and independent projects. They are not features currently integrated into this wallet.
